The dumbbells – a pair of 5-pounders and a pair of 3-pounders – are conspicuously displayed in the living room, 10 feet from where my ass is parked right now.

In addition to carting them from there to here, I've actually used them in the manner for which they were intended. Briefly. My idea is to start with light weights and only a few reps. My other idea is to do one set at a time, but do it 2 or maybe 3 times throughout the day. I'm very definitely looking forward to your linkfest. No pressure, though. That was ...Darn, somehow I missed your Friday post. That was great - and NO, you are not the only one with food issues!

Now I'm going to break the wonderful streak of people not giving you advice. I *totally* know what you mean about not wanting to do things you don't like; who would? It's the way I simply cannot be a runner: I HATE it. Life's too short.

But I also believe in the efficacy of strength training... So I have two suggestions:

1. Bring your dumbbells in. Having transported sets of weights several times, on one notable occasion up to the second story, I can verify that in itself is a workout. So there's your first strength training session already accomplished :)

2. Take some time to look around on strength training blogs for ideas. It doesn't all have to be the literal lifting of weights. There's plenty of body-weight exercises; pushing, pulling, and dragging things; ropes and sandbags and medicine balls and kettlebells and all kinds of stuff.

I'm going to put together a post with some of my favorite links - maybe there will be something that catches your fancy and doesn't seem too dreary.gingersnapperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17387125553595180101noreply@blogger.com
