Thus begins …

possibly the most overscheduled week of the year here at Chez Debbi Does Too Much.

Monday
8:00 a.m. - Take some of my Amish neighbors shopping in a nearby town
Sometime this afternoon - Week Three, Day One of Up and Running
6:30 p.m. - Democratic Executive Committee meeting

Tuesday
Laundry, cleaning
7:00 p.m. - Volunteer gig at prison

Wednesday
Morning: Week Three, Day Two of Up and Running
2:30 p.m. - Serve refreshments at a ribbon-cutting for a new nursing home

Thursday
Spend the day being nervous about …
7 p.m. - Free public screening of Iron Jawed Angels

Friday
Morning: Week Three, Day Three of Up and Running
Laundry

Saturday
5 a.m. - Pick up my Amish neighbor and head for Pennsylvania

Thank goodness Sunday is a day of rest. Although if I don't get to run today – definitely a possibility –  I'll be making up for it then.

I finished Week Two of U&R Saturday, and feel very good about my progress so far. This week's plan is slightly more challenging, but I think I'm up to it.

I saved half a dozen cookies for my
husband's evening snack. He saved
one of them for my breakfast! We
take good care of each other …
The Wednesday and Thursday events on my schedule require cookies, so I baked yesterday and stuck everything in the freezer. Because, clearly, I'm not going to have time to bake this week. (The curse of a somewhat clean house: I spent as much time sweeping up stray flour and powdered sugar specks from my shiny floors as I did sliding cookie sheets into the oven yesterday.)

Life will slow down after this week.

OH, YES, IT WILL.

Sounds like a full and productive week as well as time in there helping others. That is truly amazing. I know sometimes when busy it is hard to find the time to commit to things. (That cookie looks yummy...is it a chocolate crackle? The ones you roll in confection sugar before baking?

in some ways I really like weeks where I am very, very busy. But not two weeks back to back at a very full pace.

YES!

Update on the water: the circuit breaker tripped, either due to a power surge when the electricity came back on last night OR when lightning struck in the area. My neighbor's electric fence control box got hit in the same area. He was able to reset the circuit breaker for us and we have WATER! I think I'll go do a load of laundry. Heh.

And the winner is …

Kitten with a Whiplash, who left two comments and it was the second (which had nothing to do with the contest) which won the prize. Congratulations, and since the Kitten was the only commenter who expressed any interest in actually winning it, I'm so glad the Universe took care of it. Heh.

What a weekend! But first, how was yours? I hope you did some fun stuff and got some necessary stuff done, as well. It's all about balance.

Saturday was our fun day (but we had to drive, drive, drive to get there and then drive, drive, drive home again, all in one day, boy was I tired). We went to my husband's granddaughter's first birthday party. In addition to a sweet little doll, suitable for ages 0+ (meaning it has no parts that will come loose, and do you know how difficult it is to find dolls for babies when you live in the Middle of Nowhere?), I made her this:

I haven't sewn anything in a month of Sundays, so was a little apprehensive about finishing it on time, but this p…

I seriously thought this was sponsored by a drug company

My gingersnapping friend posted results of an online personality test, which clearly indicate she is in need of some serious therapy. Since I'm extremely well-adjusted and my psychiatrist husband hasn't pointed out any of my defects (lately), I decided to take it, as well.

Whew! At least I'm not paranoid. I was really worried about that. Heh.

Similar tests on the internets are sponsored by drug companies. (This one apparently isn't.) They want you to be sick so you'll ask your doctor for their drugs. There are quizzes for disorders that you can physically test – blood pressure, diabetes – and for symptomatic conditions – pain, depression. Since I'm no…
