It's here!

I do believe I'll take a walk and then go to the grocery.
Nothing fancy. I don't care about in-door water and ice dispensers or ice makers. But it's cooling down nicely, it's larger than the old one, it fits the space perfectly and wow is it ever clean.
Vickie shared her delivery story in a comment yesterday. You've heard/read mine. I went online last night and found scores of complaints from others with similar experiences. Or worse.
It isn't my store's fault. It isn't the delivery guy's fault. Somewhere along the line Sears the Corporation decided to outsource their delivery instead of having an in-house delivery department.
Too many layers. Too little communication. Abysmal customer service. They've given me absolutely no reason to buy anything else from them.

Such a shame that a store in so much financial trouble is not paying attention to the details. I can understand outsourcing your delivery - as a retailer with a nationwide presence, it would likely not make sense for them to maintain the infrastructure needed for efficient nationwide delivery. However, that doesn't mean they should abdicate their responsibility for good customer service.

They should have rules and measurements in place in their contracts with 3rd parties that would give them incentive to provide a high level of service or lose money - or the whole contract. If they're not holding the delivery folks accountable AND making it right with the customers when the system breaks down, then shame on them - and no wonder they are losing customers right and left...

WOW IT'S BEAUTIFUL. We were also stunned by how CLEAN our new refrigerator was. A sad commentary on my housekeeping skills.

We've bought some appliances at HH Gregg, and been very pleased with their delivery service. However, the fridge was from Lowes Home Center, just because it was a significantly better price, and I didn't have any complaints about them either.

I used to really like Sears, for appliances, tools, etc., but stopped shopping them when we moved here 20 years ago. Their customer service, including sales, including delivery, was ABYSMAL. I attribute that to Southern Syndrome, but it seems to have taken over the rest of the country as well. I'm not a bitchy, demanding customer, but there are limits to my patience...
