Let’s weigh in, shall we?

Somehow, despite a week of steroids, crazy (non-South Beach) eating and virtually no exercise, I managed to lose two pounds since my last weigh-in, whenever that was.

What’s up with that?

For the past week I’ve kind of eaten like how I imagine regular folks eat: a brownie here, a hamburger (with the bun) there. We even had buttered popcorn one night for an evening snack.

I’m not even going to try to analyze or explain it. It is what it is, and I’ll take it, thankyouverymuch.

Forgive me a tiny bit of analysis: I hesitate to give any credit to my new favorite beverage, but it does contain antioxidants that are purported to boost metabolism. I love, love, LOVE Lipton Diet Green Tea with Citrus. Tiny Kroger even has a store brand that’s just as tasty and a buck-fifty cheaper (per 12 bottles) than the Real Stuff. But since I was at Sam’s yesterday I picked up two cases of the Real Stuff, which ought to last us, oh, a week or so.

I haven’t been knitting at all. The triplet sweaters are going to be too small for their fall wardrobe – they each weigh between 10 and 11 pounds now. I’ve abandoned that project and can’t seem to find anything new that’s exciting or tempting. I’ve been spending all my former knitting time playing solitaire, either on the computer or on the iPod.

That’s not a good sign for my mental health. I hope that getting back into a disciplined race training program will help me back out of these doldrums.

When all else fails on the knitting front, I whip out a few of the felted bowls from One Skein. I love those things, and I seem to be of the mind that you can never have too many felted bowls :)

Must be the time of year. I can't seem to mobilize either - and I've got a lot to mobilze over - sold my condo, close next week and have to be out by end of August and still don't have a place to move to. Then 3 weeks ago my car was stolen. Haven't done anything towards replacing it and will need to turn in the rental in a couple of days...and yet I do NOTHING.

I am hopeful that the longer I wait the better chance there is that the universe will intervene and magically solve all of my problems with no effort on my part!

Perhaps you will be similarly inspired with knitting projects and marathon training...although based on my results so far, I wouldn't count on it if I were you!

Maybe some of this has been the heat? You're not too far from me and it's been horribly humid and muggy and hot. I have faith in your ability to suddenly BREAK OUT. :-)

So Kroger has a version of this...well, I'll be braving our local Kroger for this.

YES!

Update on the water: the circuit breaker tripped, either due to a power surge when the electricity came back on last night OR when lightning struck in the area. My neighbor's electric fence control box got hit in the same area. He was able to reset the circuit breaker for us and we have WATER! I think I'll go do a load of laundry. Heh.

Report

Well. Well, well, well. Should this morning's scale number be divided between two weeks, or did all of it happen this past week? It's an easy number to divide, and I've been consistent for two weeks, so it should probably be split, doncha think?

That means I lost three pounds for each of the last two weeks. SIX pounds total. Excuse me, I mean
SIX!!!!!! I'm going to do everything I can to stay on track while I'm gone this week. There's little more I can promise. I'm really motivated to keep it up. The dumbbells are packed (and my luggage weighs a ton!), I'm taking a thermos of water in the car and I know where are the rest stops are between here and Nashville. I think I'll walk a bit at each of them, then walk again when I arrive at my destination. Hope to get a total of 80 minutes done by the end of the day. SIX!!!!!!

And the winner is …

Kitten with a Whiplash, who left two comments and it was the second (which had nothing to do with the contest) which won the prize. Congratulations, and since the Kitten was the only commenter who expressed any interest in actually winning it, I'm so glad the Universe took care of it. Heh.

What a weekend! But first, how was yours? I hope you did some fun stuff and got some necessary stuff done, as well. It's all about balance.

Saturday was our fun day (but we had to drive, drive, drive to get there and then drive, drive, drive home again, all in one day, boy was I tired). We went to my husband's granddaughter's first birthday party. In addition to a sweet little doll, suitable for ages 0+ (meaning it has no parts that will come loose, and do you know how difficult it is to find dolls for babies when you live in the Middle of Nowhere?), I made her this:

I haven't sewn anything in a month of Sundays, so was a little apprehensive about finishing it on time, but this p…
