The day our women's group was supposed to get together for a bunny lesson turned out to be not a good day for travel, and that meeting was postponed. THANK YOU, WINTER!
My bunnies had not yet been assembled. The squares were knitted, but not the ears, so I took advantage of the recent NCAA basketball tournament games to finish those up and then began stitching and stuffing.
A knitted square looks like a washcloth, so I didn't take any before photos. But here's the after:
I have several other simple toy patterns to work on. All the toys will be distributed by the sheriff to children in domestic abuse cases.
The weather yesterday wasn't as wonderful as the forecast said it was going to be, and it was Monday – my rest day. I opted to work in the front flower bed for a little activity. I thought about walking, but it rained off and on most of the day. Not a heavy rain, but you never know when precipitation is going to change from a sprinkle to a deluge, and I felt better being a few steps from the front door rather than a few miles.
My flower bed looks pretty good, if I do say so myself. The leaves I raked away really did a good job of minimizing early-spring weed growth. It's great to look out and see all the newly sprouting plants – day lilies, baptisia, sedum and more. The lilacs are budding, too, even the one I thought didn't make it over the winter.
I also cut back all the dead asparagus. I didn't see any fresh green stalks popping up, but it's a little early, considering how long winter has hung on this year. Last year the first asparagus showed up mid-March-ish. Can't wait for the first asparagus of the season, which really and truly signals the end of winter. Maybe I'll make another Easter pizza. But of course we'll just call it spring pizza.
The sun is shining, the sky is clear, there's no rain in the forecast and so there will be walking this afternoon, once it warms up a bit.
So that's it. My boring yesterday, all wrapped up, and my boring today, anticipated. What's up with you?

I didn't think of this when you were first knitting the bunnies, but did you think to NOT use wool if they are going to children you don't know (allergies).
All fibers are machine-washable acrylic, stuffing also is machine-wash.
They are cute! I wish I could knit as good as you!
Very cute! You are so crafty - and ambitious!
We had a positively gorgeous day in the ATL yesterday. So beautiful that I actually got myself out for a couple of laps around the complex yesterday afternoon. If only the entire place was either flat or uphill I could have done many more laps, but sadly, those downhill portions are still pretty tough on my knee, so I cut it off at 2 laps when my IT band area started to twinge and act up again.
But still, I was proud of myself for doing that much - especially given that I had 2 hours of PT earlier in the day!
Today, I climbed up the ladder to my attic to bring down a large box of paperwork that I needed to get into for tax information (thought it was so old I wouldn't need it when it was put up there, but, of course, best laid plans...). Had to empty the container by throwing a lot of it down the ladder from the top. Thankfully, most of it was in large envelopes that could take that kind of toss. Then threw the empty container itself down, followed by climbing back down myself carrying the last of the load.
I was a little concerned about my ability to do all of this - just getting the attic ladder down means getting up on a step stool to get the leverage needed when opening and closing the stairs. All a pretty complex process for someone recovering from knee surgery. So, of course, I wore something with a pocket and carried my cell phone with me in case things went south and I needed to call for help...I'm happy to say I didn't need to use it.
Just standing on the ladder and pulling stuff out of the box put a good bit of stress on my knee - that wasn't an issue I really anticipated - was more concerned about getting up and down narrow ladders and step stools. But it's done and I did it without having to call in reinforcements, so it's on to working on/hopefully finishing my taxes!
That's what's happening in this neck of the woods (as Al Roker would say...) Hope you have a lovely walk today in your neck of the woods!
You were very smart
