A bit overwhelmed today

Too much to do and too little time to do it. And I hate to say it, but the thing that's going to get left out is the daily walk. I'd probably make time for it if it were a bit warmer, but it's not, and it's not going to be, and, well, you both know how I feel about the elliptical! Heh. I've walked 30 miles so far this month, so even at the end of today, if I don't walk, I will have averaged five miles/day for the month. I'd kinda like to keep the streak going, though.

We'll see.

I have to put together a portfolio to present to a group this afternoon. I should have worked on it yesterday, of course, but I walked and cooked and internetted (that's a word, right?) until the day got away from me.

I have to make or, more likely, buy and mail Valentines for the grandchildren. All year long I pin ideas for handmade Valentines and every February I end up buying cards and mailing them at the last minute. It's not like I don't know Valentine's Day is coming. It happens every year on the same day.

To be fair, I had some ideas ready to go this morning but my printer died. I might be able to print them from the old printer, and since I have to use that computer for some of the portfolio pieces I'll give it a try. I've ordered a replacement printer, one that supports AirPrint, which will come in very handy when I want to print something from my phone or tablet. The death of the old one was anticipated and maybe even celebrated, since it moved from useful to obsolete so quickly.

And I need to figure out something to throw into the slow cooker for dinner, since the afternoon meeting begins at 4 – about the time I usually start cooking.

  1. Slow cooker
  2. Portfolio
  3. Valentines

Not much on that list in the way of self-care but OH WELL. Some days are kinder than others.

This is not one of them.

Tomorrow will be a better day, slow cooker is definitely the one option I would prioritise too - yummy! I hope today is better and good luck with NaBloPoMo, I'm trying it too! - Vanessa :)

I got store-bought Valentines for everyone at work, even the people I hate. They're super-hero themed and come with tattoos. Must say I'm looking forward to a relaxing hour addressing them this weekend.

You know, this sounds like a super idea for your first V-Day at this job. I know how frustrated you've been. This seems like quite the positive spin. Good for you!

Update on the water: the circuit breaker tripped, either due to a power surge when the electricity came back on last night OR when lightning struck in the area. My neighbor's electric fence control box got hit in the same area. He was able to reset the circuit breaker for us and we have WATER! I think I'll go do a load of laundry. Heh.

And the winner is …

Kitten with a Whiplash, who left two comments and it was the second (which had nothing to do with the contest) which won the prize. Congratulations, and since the Kitten was the only commenter who expressed any interest in actually winning it, I'm so glad the Universe took care of it. Heh.

What a weekend! But first, how was yours? I hope you did some fun stuff and got some necessary stuff done, as well. It's all about balance.

Saturday was our fun day (but we had to drive, drive, drive to get there and then drive, drive, drive home again, all in one day, boy was I tired). We went to my husband's granddaughter's first birthday party. In addition to a sweet little doll, suitable for ages 0+ (meaning it has no parts that will come loose, and do you know how difficult it is to find dolls for babies when you live in the Middle of Nowhere?), I made her this:

I haven't sewn anything in a month of Sundays, so was a little apprehensive about finishing it on time, but this p…

Well. Well, well, well. Should this morning's scale number be divided between two weeks, or did all of it happen this past week? It's an easy number to divide, and I've been consistent for two weeks, so it should probably be split, doncha think?

That means I lost three pounds for each of the last two weeks. SIX pounds total. Excuse me, I mean
SIX!!!!!! I'm going to do everything I can to stay on track while I'm gone this week. There's little more I can promise. I'm really motivated to keep it up. The dumbbells are packed (and my luggage weighs a ton!), I'm taking a thermos of water in the car and I know where are the rest stops are between here and Nashville. I think I'll walk a bit at each of them, then walk again when I arrive at my destination. Hope to get a total of 80 minutes done by the end of the day. SIX!!!!!!
